Waterless humidification
Many travel CPAP machines use compatible waterless humidification, including the ResMed AirMini. This means you don’t need to worry about taking a large humidifier with you on your travels; waterless humidification works just like it sounds – without any water!
So, you do not need to pack additional distilled water or hunt for some wherever you go. The AirMini uses small and compact HumidX, which lasts up to thirty days each. Alternatively, some popular brands include optional lightweight humidifiers to add to their travel devices.
If you plan to travel by plane, take a travel case to help protect your machine and carry a doctor’s note or prescription stating your requirement for CPAP therapy when travelling abroad.
Travel CPAP Machines FAQs
If your CPAP machines is lightweight enough for travelling, you could use a CPAP Battery. A CPAP battery can provide up to two nights of Sleep Apnoea therapy on a single charge. It’s a good option if you are away for a couple of nights.
If you are a frequent traveller, a travel CPAP machine could be a good long-term investment as portable CPAP’s are often much smaller and lighter.
A travel CPAP machine gives you the flexibility to go off-the-grid for camping, hiking, and other outdoor activities. These portable CPAP’s can be run on a battery pack the size of a small notebook for one to two nights, but they are not designed to provide full-time therapy and should not be used as a replacement to your usual CPAP machine.
Sleep Apnoea can take all the fun out of your holiday and leave you under performing if you travel for work.
Whilst travelling with your CPAP machine can be frustrating and bulky to fit into your luggage, leaving it at home is not really an option. Studies have shown that even one night without your CPAP can bring back the full symptoms of Sleep Apnoea.
Travel CPAP machines are designed to be lightweight and easy to use on-the-go. They have flexible power options too, so you’re more likely to stick with your CPAP therapy.
If you’re a frequent traveller, a portable CPAP machine is absolutely worth it.
